When it comes to green technologies, a successful vessel build requires far more than choosing a propulsion system. Operators need a builder who understands the true costs, benefits, performance factors, and regulatory requirements of each option.
For over 30 years, All American Marine has set the standard in aluminum vessel manufacturing, evolving from fishing boats to advanced passenger ferries, research vessels, and beyond. Recognized for our high-quality craftsmanship, All American Marine has attained exclusive North American building rights with one of the world’s top naval architects and designers, Nic de Waal of Teknicraft Design. In partnership with Teknicraft, we deliver proven hull and hydrofoil technology that enhances efficiency and performance.
Today, our expertise spans every facet of propulsion, from hybrid-electric systems to fully electric ferries and hydrogen fuel cell power. Our work on Sea Change, North America’s first hydrogen fuel cell passenger vessel, demonstrates how we lead operators into the next generation of clean-tech propulsion. We also have been chosen to build multiple all-electric fast ferries for WETA, a testament to our expertise in alternative propulsion and innovation in design and construction.
HOLISTIC DESIGN & MANUFACTURING APPROACH
At All American Marine, we know no two operators share the same mission. That’s why every vessel we build begins with a custom design process—developed hand-in-hand with our exclusive naval architect, Teknicraft Design. Unlike the traditional shipbuilding model where designers and builders work separately, our integrated approach brings both under one roof. This collaboration allows us to lock in critical details early, ensuring fuel efficiency, low wake energy, and unmatched performance.
Since 1999, our relationship with Teknicraft has been the foundation of AAM’s reputation for innovation. By eliminating the common disconnect between design and construction, we’ve been able to continually pioneer new vessel types and propulsion systems—from hydrofoil-assisted catamarans to hybrid, electric, and hydrogen-powered builds. With seamless coordination, immediate feedback, and some of the most skilled craftsmen in the industry, we not only deliver mission-specific vessels—we push the entire industry forward.
At AAM, innovation isn’t an add-on. It’s built into our process, our partnerships, and every vessel that leaves our yard.
SUPERIOR DESIGN
The Teknicraft Design is unlike any other—combining a distinctive hull shape with a signature hydrofoil system to create lift, reduce drag, and deliver unmatched efficiency. This innovative form results in high-speed travel, ultra-low wake, and industry-leading fuel economy—all fully customizable to fit each operator’s mission.
At All American Marine, we’ve proven the versatility of Teknicraft designs across a wide range of vessels, ranging from Pilot Boats to Crew Transfer Vessels and Innovative Patrol Boats, Passenger Vessels to a unique parallel hybrid Monohulls. Signature projects like Enhydra, the largest hybrid-electric vessel at its delivery, and Sea Change, North America’s first commercial hydrogen fuel cell ferry, demonstrate how this platform allows us to continually set new standards in alternative propulsion.
The unique catamaran hull form, a blend of symmetrical and asymmetrical sponsons with Teknicraft’s Eco Bow, delivers directional stability, softer rides, reduced fuel consumption, and one of the lowest wake energy levels in its class. In both calm seas and rough conditions, these performance advantages translate directly to operator confidence and passenger comfort.
By integrating Teknicraft’s advanced hull technology with the latest in propulsion innovation, AAM continues to be the trusted builder of next-generation vessels for operators across the country.
The All American Marine-built, Teknicraft-designed hull:
Displaces 1/3 of the vessel’s weight
Uses 1/3 less horsepower
Burns 1/3 less fuel
than other vessels in the same class.
INNOVATIVE MANUFACTURING
In 2017, All American Marine opened a 57,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility on Bellingham Bay, purpose-built for advanced aluminum vessel construction. Outfitted with precision tooling, CNC cutting, overhead cranes, and laser-leveled build platforms, the shop gives our craftsmen the ability to deliver the most advanced boats in the industry—on time and on budget. With support from a MARAD grant, even more cutting-edge systems are coming online to further enhance our capabilities.
Every vessel we build is backed by stringent quality assurance, U.S. Coast Guard oversight, and the expertise of a highly skilled workforce. Combined with Teknicraft’s innovative catamaran hulls and optional hydrofoil technology, our process ensures each vessel performs at the top of its class and can be replicated as fleets expand.
COMMITTED TO THE FUTURE
In an industry full of noise, All American Marine stands apart by staying true to what we know best: building quality vessels that last. Our track record speaks for itself—repeat customers, fleets still operating decades after delivery, and operators across North America choosing us as their trusted builder. Today, we are a national leader in hybrid-electric vessels and the builder of the world’s first hydrogen fuel cell passenger ferry, proof that innovation and durability can go hand in hand.
In 2021, AAM joined the Bryton Marine Group family, strengthening our foundation with added resources, expanded networks, and greater buying power—all while continuing to operate independently with the same culture, workforce, and values that define us. This partnership ensures we can keep pushing the boundaries of vessel design and advanced propulsion, while remaining dedicated to our operators and employees.
We are committed to leading the next era of clean-tech vessel construction, giving operators the best tools to meet their missions and helping chart a more sustainable future for the maritime industry. Reach out today and let’s build the future together.
